Description: 2 x two-hour interactive workshops to introduce pre-service primary school teachers on a Professional Masters Degree programme to code (for the classroom). These workshops will take as a starting point, the context of children's literacy. They aim to illustrate how the basics of the SCRATCH programme can animate and elevate children's learning and motivation using the surprise birthday theme from a storybook called "Hide and Seek Birthday Treat" by Linda Jennings & Joanne Partis. By the end the workshop, it is hoped these PME student teachers will have created - in pairs - a short animation relating to the story, complete with flashing lights and maybe even some sound effects! Please note this is an MIE student event only.
